Description:
The Center of Gravity Apparatus provides a straightforward technique for determining the center of gravity of complex shapes. It’s much quicker than using calculus, especially for irregular shapes.
The apparatus consists of a free-standing backboard with a hook.
A selection of flat shapes can be hung from the hook.
A simple pendulum suspended from a pin allows us to transfer the weight’s line of action to the lamina.
The center of gravity is the point on the shape where two or more such lines intersect.
